Importing Files

If you’re moving to Slite from another tool or consolidating documentation from multiple sources, you can import your existing files in just a few clicks.
This guide walks you through the bulk import process.

How to Import Multiple Files

To start the import process:
    Click Import in the lower section of the left sidebar.
    Select Upload your files.
    Click Import your docs.
    Select your files.
    You can select multiple files at once by holding the Command or Ctrl key.
    Choose a name for the new channel in which your docs will be imported.
    Choose the visibility of your new channel.
    Open: Everyone in your workspace can access this channel.
    Private: Only people you choose can access this channel.
Once the import is successful, you’ll see a confirmation dialog in the lower right corner. Click Go to the doc to view your imported docs.
If you get an error saying that you couldn't create the channel, contact your workspace administrator and ask them to grant you the necessary permissions to create new channels.

Supported File Types

You can import the following file formats:
  • .txt
  • .md
  • .doc
  • .docx
  • .html
PDF files cannot be imported at this time, you would need to convert them beforehand.
