Asana

By connecting Slite with your Asana account, you can instantly search for all your tasks, projects, and comments directly in the Slite Agent. This guide will walk you through the key aspects of the Slite and Asana connection.

Connecting Asana & the Slite Agent

This is the first step to get started. This section covers how to set up the connection between Slite and Asana.

Required permissions for setup

To connect Slite with Asana, you must have the necessary permissions in both platforms.
  • In Slite: Permission to add or remove agent sources depends on your team's settings. By default, only Admins or Owners can set up a connection. However, a Slite admin can enable a setting to allow all members to add or remove agent sources.
  • In Asana: You must have access to the Asana workspace or project you wish to connect.

Initial Asana connection

To begin, you need to connect your Asana account with Slite.
In Slite, click Agent Sources in the left sidebar (at the bottom).
Click + New source , then choose or search for Asana and click Connect Asana .
A new window will open. Slite is requesting permission to access your Asana workspace. Review the permissions and click Allow .
After clicking Allow , you will be redirected back to Slite, where you can select the specific Asana projects you want to sync.
Once you've selected your projects, the initial data sync will begin.

How the Slite Agent indexes your Asana projects and tasks

What we sync

Slite Agent syncs tasks, comments, and metadata from your Asana projects. We do not sync private user data or internal Asana analytics.

Refresh rate

New tasks, comments, and updates appear in the Slite Agent every ~6 hours.
When a project is first connected, Slite Agent performs an initial import of all tasks that have been modified within the last 365 days. The data that was indexed during the initial setup and any subsequent updates would still be available in the Slite Agent after multiple years.

Metadata

To make your search results more useful, the Slite Agent automatically pulls and indexes key information from your Asana tasks. This includes:
  • Creation, modification, and due dates
  • Completion status and approval status
  • Assignee, creator, and follower names
  • Project and section memberships
  • Tags and custom fields
  • Comment text and author
  • A direct link to the Asana task

Access control & privacy

Slite Agent respects Asana's privacy settings. It will only index and display content that the user has permission to see in Asana. This ensures that search results are private and secure, matching your team's existing access controls.
