Doc Verification

Keep your knowledge base accurate, trusted, and easy to navigate.
Doc Verification is a simple but powerful feature that helps your team trust the content they rely on. Verified docs rank higher in AI results (Slite  Ask  and  Super ) and  Search  while outdated ones are deprioritized—making sure people find the right info, fast.

Why use Doc Verification?

Slite’s doc verification helps you:
  • Boost trust: Verified docs act as a seal of approval—your team knows they’re up to date.
  • Improve search results: Verified docs are ranked higher in Slite Ask and Super, as well as Search. Outdated docs are deprioritized (Ask) or excluded (Super).
  • Stay on top of knowledge hygiene: Verification expires on a set date, prompting owners to review content.

Doc Verification Statuses

Every doc in Slite can have one of these statuses:
  • Verified: Confirms the doc is up to date and reliable. You can set a verification period (e.g. 3 months); after that, the doc status will change to Verification expired.
  • Verification expired: A reminder for the owner to review and re-verify the doc.
  • Outdated: Marks content as no longer trustworthy. This deprioritizes the doc in AI results.
  • Verification requested: Signals that the content may need an update. Used by teammates to prompt the doc owner to take action.
  • No status: The default state if no action has been taken.

How to use Doc Verification

You’ll find the doc status bar at the top of any doc. Click it to open the menu.
From here, you can:

  • Set a future review date to keep the content fresh.
  • When the date passes, the status updates to Verification expired, and the doc owner gets notified.

Flag as Outdated

  • Any team member can flag a doc if it’s out of date.
  • Adds a message for context and notifies the doc owner.
  • Red Exclamation MarkOutdated docs are excluded from  Super  and ranked lower in  Ask .

Request Verification

  • Ideal when you’re unsure whether a doc is still valid.
  • Leave a reason to give context.
  • The doc owner is notified and can take action.

Clear Status

  • Use this to remove any current verification status.

Managing Docs at Scale

  • View all docs with a verification status
  • Filter by owner, status, or channel
  • Bulk-verify, reassign ownership, or archive outdated docs

Best Practices

  • Verify the essentials: Focus on high-impact docs—e.g. policies, onboarding guides, product specs.
  • Set a rhythm: Schedule periodic reviews using the verification expiry date.
  • Build habits: Make verifying part of your content creation and maintenance workflow.
