Connecting Sources
To connect an external source:
Go to Workspace Settings > External Sources.
Click Add external source and choose the tool you want to connect.
At this time, you can connect Google Drive folders, Linear teams, and public Slack channels.
Other apps are coming soon.
If it's your first time connecting one of these tools to Slite you'll be asked to sign in.
Asking and searching connected sources
Connected sources don't show as regular content in Slite, they are not part of the content tree structure, but are taken into account when using Ask. They are additional sources used for answering your query.
Permissions in Google Drive folders
You can choose who will be able to see the information coming from synced docs in Slite.
You'll be connecting any Google Docs that you have access to and then choose in Slite if you prefer to keep them private or share them with your team.
→ Docs with restricted access won't be synchronized.
→ Docs that are available with the link will be synchronized.
FAQ
What is considered as an (1) external source?
We consider an external source not as a type (e.g. Slack or Linear) but as a sub-entity.
In other words:
Each public Slack channel is an external source
Each Linear team is an external source
Each Google Drive root folder is an external source
How often do external sources sync?
Connected sources will sync every 6 hours. Any change you make on the original Google Doc or Linear card will affect what you see in Slite.
Can I force sync?
Yes. If you've made some changes and don't want to wait for 6 hours you can manually sync a source.
To do so, choose "Sync manually" from the hamburger menu to the right of the source name.
How do I remove a connected source?
You can remove a connected source in Settings > External Sources. From there, click the ··· icon next to the connected source and choose "Remove source."
Everything—docs, files, Slack channels, etc—that had been connected with that source will be completely removed from Slite.
In Google Drive, what types of files can be synced?
Google Docs, .docx files, and PDFs. Other types of files will be ignored.
Slack isn't syncing and shows no threads...
If that happens, make sure that you are using the same email address in Slack and Slite.
It says "Failed syncing" next to my Slack channel...
Please make sure that the Slite bot has been invited to your Slack channel.
