Set up your workspace

Set up your workspace

This guide covers the admin setup that gets your workspace ready for your team: how people sign in, roles, inviting your team, bringing in content, and connecting your tools to AI. Each section keeps it brief and links to a full guide when you need more.
For everything in one place, the  Admin & Settings  hub has the full reference.

Set up how your team signs in

By default, your team signs in with email and password. If you'd rather they use the identity provider you already have, set up Single Sign-On (SSO) so there are no extra passwords to manage.
Slite supports SSO via OIDC and SAML with Azure AD, Okta, OneLogin, Google, and Slack. You'll find it under Settings → Security. SSO is available on Premium and Enterprise plans.

Set roles and permissions

Slite has five roles — Owner, Admin, Billing admin, Member, and Reader — that shape what each person can see and do. Most people are Members; Owners and Admins manage the workspace. Guests are separate: external collaborators who only see the docs or channels you share with them.
If you use SSO, you can auto-assign roles from your identity provider groups, so people land in the right role as they join.

Invite your team

Click your workspace logo in the top-left and choose Invite members (or go to Settings → Workspace → User management → Invite). You can invite people three ways:
  • Email — send invites to one or more addresses at once.
  • Invite link — share a link anyone can use to join.
  • Google or Slack — connect your account and invite contacts in one click.
You can also turn on auto-join by domain so anyone with your company email can join without an invite. New seats are added to your plan automatically as people join, and you can manage your plan and billing any time in Settings → Billing.

Bring in your existing content

Already have documentation in another tool? Import it so Slite becomes your single source of truth. You can bring content over from Notion, Confluence, Google Drive, and more, or upload files in bulk.

Connect your data sources

The Slite agent answers questions across the tools your team already uses — Slack, Google Drive, Linear, GitHub, Jira, and 20+ more. Connect them in the Agent sources panel at the bottom of your left sidebar. The more you connect, the more the agent can answer.

Connect Slite to your AI assistant

The Slite MCP server lets AI assistants like Claude and ChatGPT read and write docs in your workspace directly, so they can answer from your knowledge base and help you create content.
It uses OAuth, so setup is quick: add https://api.slite.com/mcp as a custom MCP connector in your assistant's settings, then sign in to authorize it.
