Readers

The reader role is currently only available in our Enterprise plan. Please contact  support@slite.com  if this is something you'd like to further explore for your account.

Some organizations have limited people in charge of creating the content in their knowledge base, and a bigger percentage of employees that just need to consume the information. To support this use case we have a reader-role available in our Enterprise plan.

This role is discounted but also gives users with the reader role access to limited features. You can compare the access levels of the different roles in Slite via  User Roles .

How to add a reader?

When the reader role is enabled for your account you'll have the option to select the license type (member or read-only) when you invite a new member.

At any given time you can switch the type of license that a person has. This allows you to upgrade someone to an admin or billing admin. Or upgrade a reader to a member to give them edit access to your knowledge base.

Making someone an admin does not influence your billing, but switching someone from a reader to a member does. This upgrade will be reflected on your next monthly invoice.

Reader license

As mentioned the reader-role has limited access to Slite. For all the channels and docs they are invited to they are only able to comment and read. The reader license overwrites the default sharing settings for the workspace. Readers do have access to a "My private channel", which they can use for their personal notes.

Readers have a more simplified sidebar, and are not able to add people, import, use templates, or access the knowledge management panel. Readers do have access to the updates section, Questions & Answers, and the archive.
