Linear

By syncing your Linear account, you can instantly search for all your teams, issues, and comments directly in the Slite Agent. This guide will walk you through the key aspects of the Slite and Linear connection.

Connecting Linear & the Slite Agent

This is the first step to get started. This section covers how to set up the connection between Slite and Linear.

Required permissions for setup

To connect Slite and Linear, you must have the necessary permissions in both platforms.
  • In Slite: Permission to add or remove agent sources depends on your team's settings. By default, only workspace admins or owners can set up a connection. However, a Slite admin can enable a setting to allow all members to add and remove agent sources.
  • In Linear: The user connecting the accounts must be an active admin in Linear.

Initial Linear connection

To begin, you need to connect your Linear account with Slite.
In Slite, click Agent Sources in the left sidebar (at the bottom).
Click + New source , then choose or search for Linear and click Connect Linear .
A new window will open. Slite is requesting permission to access your Linear workspace. Review the permissions and click Allow .
After clicking Allow , you will be redirected back to Slite, where you can select the specific Linear teams you want to sync.
Once you've selected your teams, the initial data sync will begin.
Once the initial sync is complete, you can use Linear everywhere in the Slite Agent as an agent source.
During the initial connection, Slite Agent will perform a bulk import of all issues from the past 365 days.
Due to API rate limits from Linear, this process may take some time to complete, especially if you have a large number of issues.
If you see "Rate limit exceeded", indexing will continue automatically once available.

How the Slite Agent indexes your Linear projects and issues

What we sync

Slite Agent only syncs issues and comments from your Linear workspace.

Refresh rate

New issues, comments, and updates appear in the Slite Agent within a few minutes.

Metadata

To make your search results more useful, the Slite Agent automatically pulls and indexes key information from your Linear issues. This includes:
  • Issue status (e.g., Backlog, In Progress, Done), priority, and labels.
  • Assignee and creator details.
  • Creation and update timestamps.
  • URL references back to the original issue in Linear.

Access control & privacy

All Slite members can ask about all the synced Linear teams if they have an account with the same email address in Linear.
Issues from private Linear teams are only accessible to the members of that specific team.
