Integration for Slack

Overview

Combine Slite with Slack for a practical and powerful integration that keeps your team in sync. Search your Slite workspace from Slack and ask questions using Slite's AI assistant.

How it works

Connecting Slite to Slack will allow you to:
Ask  your knowledge base questions using Slite's AI assistant by either mentioning @Slite bot in your message or enabling the assistant to automatically recognise questions and propose answers.
Share Slite Docs that display rich unfurls (previews) or share them as a PDF.
Set up your personal Slite notifications.
Sync Slite Channel updates to Slack Channels, receiving notifications when a doc is created or updated.

Disclaimer

As an admin, you have to activate Slite AI from your settings to let your team use it. By activating Slite AI in your workspace, you hereby accept the  Privacy Policy at Slite  and our usage of Azure OpenAI.
You should also notice it could produce inaccurate answers so we advise you to always look at the sources extracted from Slite to verify the veracity.

Configuration

Workspace Integration setup

If you have an existing integration for Slack but don't seem to have access to any of the features listed in this doc then reinstall the Integration. Click the Manage button next to the integration for Slack option, then click Reinstall.

You must be a workspace admin and owner role to install the integration. Once you have those permissions, to set up the initial integration for Slack you will need to:

Go to your team's icon in the top left corner of Slite to get to your Settings.
Navigate to  Team Settings  >  Integrations  in the menu.
Select  Install  on the integration for Slack.

Unlinking/Linking your Slite and Slack Account

As part of the setup, individual users will have their Slite user and Slack user accounts automatically linked (based on the email address). You can personally disconnect from this on your  Notification  settings.

If at any point when using the integration on Slack or Slite there is an email mismatch you will be prompted to manually link your accounts.

Setting up @Slite bot to answer questions in public Slack channels

You will first need to have completed the  Workspace Integration , then this particular connection can be set up by individual users and does not involve an admin/owner to complete the setup.
Once you've invited the @Slite bot to the public Slack channel, it will automatically try to find answers to questions extracted from the channel directly in Slite via the Ask feature.

It will use the permissions of the user asking the question if this user has been  linked to a Slite user  or do nothing otherwise.

To set up the Slite bot simply type @Slite in a public Slack channel to invite the Slite bot to the channel.

You can then either proactively tag @Slite or let it offer you an automated answer.

A/ Proactively mentioning @Slite
By typing @Slite in your slack message, it will process the entire slack thread to infer a question to search in Slite.
Hit enter and see the answer along with links to the sources.

B/ Let the Slite bot offer you automated answers
Ask any question in the Slack channel.
See a message from the Slite bot with an answer to the previously asked question (note this is only visible to you),
Click "Share answer" to post the answer publicly in the Slack channel.
Click "Turn off Auto answer" to stop the Slite bot from auto-answering to you.
At this time, the Slite bot cannot answer in private channels.

Sharing docs to Slack setup

This connection can be set up by individual users and does not involve an admin/owner to complete the setup. Sharing docs via Slack is available for individuals and does not require the integration for Slack.

Go to the Share button on the top left of a Doc
Click the Slack icon
Select the Slack team you to share with
Select the Slack channel or direct message recipient
Here you can choose if you want to share the Doc such that it opens in Slite or attach it as a PDF
You can also add an optional message for the recipient

Notification setup

Slack notifications are available for individuals. Once the integration setup has been configured, any user can set up these notifications.
Set up personal Slack notifications from My settings >  Notifications .
You'll receive your notifications in the Slite channel in Slack

Syncing Channel activity setup

Syncing Channel activity requires the integration setup to be completed.

Sync Slite Channel updates to Slack to receive notifications when a doc is created, updated or commented on:

Go to the Channel you want to Sync
Right-click or select the three-dot menu to view Channel Options
Click Settings
Toggle on the Slack notification option
Select a Slack Channel to send the update to
