You can easily get all the metadata associated with a document, and see its usage over time. Let's dive in!
How to access the doc information
At the top of your document, you will see at a glance who acted on it last and when. Or, if your document has been verified, you will see its status instead.
You can click either label to view more information about your doc.
Doc information
Here you will also be able to change the doc status, and get reminders when a doc is outdated.
How to access the doc insights modal
Let's say you wrote an important update and you want to verify if it has been useful. You can learn this by clicking "See more insights." Alternatively, you can also see more insights by clicking the button in the top right of your document.
You'll see information about the author, contributors, latest update, stats like word count and letter count, as well as an activity log.
Doc insights
On the analytics side, you can slice and dice by looking either at the total number of visits, or unique visitors.
You can also do the same for editors, and for public visits if you shared your document on the web via a Public Link.
Activity log
In the doc insights modal, you can also see an activity log. It will summarise the various actions that happened in the context of this document: creation, new edits and new comments.
Click "See editing history" to view previous doc versions and restore one if you need to. (Head over to Document version history for more details.)
How to see viewers on docs
In order to see the viewers in your doc, you will need to ensure that the Enable list of readers on docs option is enabled in your organization settings.
