Google Drive Integration

Embed Google Drive files in your Slite docs and edit them directly without changing context.
This feature is available in the browser on desktop.
You need to be signed in to Slite and Google in the same browser.

How the Google Drive integration works

When you paste a link to a file hosted on Google Drive (e.g. you want to embed a video to save Slite storage), it automatically displays a preview instead of a plain URL.
If you have the permission to write on the Google Drive file, you can also edit it through Slite by expanding its preview. This works for Spreadsheets, Slides, and Docs.
You can also use the /Google Drive command directly in the editor, then paste your link.
Google Drive content can be added as a Data Source in  Super , so your team can surface it in context.

How to edit files directly in Slite

This feature is available for Spreadsheets, Slides, and Docs.
When you click an embed, you can select the Expand button to display the file full screen and you'll be able to edit it.

Important Notes

  • The first time you try to embed a file, you will be prompted to allow cookies. This is necessary in order for the connection to work.
  • Non-publicly shared Google drive files are not visible as a preview in the desktop app. A linked block will be shown instead.
  • After a user allows Slite access, any embeds added by the user remain visible for all people opening the doc.
  • If you don't have access to the Drive to which the Google Drive embed belongs, you'll see a Request access button.
  • You can connect only one Google account per Slite member. If you need to revoke an account, contact  support@slite.com  to reset your token.
