Ask from anywhere - Use AskX from Slack, Chrome, or your own app

AskX can be accessed through multiple entry points. Here's a comprehensive guide on the available methods:
    .1Slack
    .2Chrome extension
.3Custom interface with our API and Zapier

From Slack

Setup

To use AskX in Slack, you need to integrate it with your Slack workspace. Once integrated, you can use it in public channels by mentioning @slite.

How to use it

Proactive Mentions

    .1Type @Slite in your message
.2If in a thread, it will read it to reformulate the question
.3You'll get the answer with all sources listed

Automated Answers - beta

When AskX detects it can answer a question in a channel it's part of, it will also send a reply automatically, in a message only visible to the user having typed the query.
You will have 2 options along with each reply:
  • "Share answer" to post publicly in the channel
  • "Turn off Auto answer" to disable automated responses

Notes

Permissions are respected: AskX will generate an answer based on what the user asking has access to.
If they don't have the same email between AskX and Slite or don't have an AskX account, it won't do anything.
If @slite is not part of a channel, you will be prompted to invite it when you mention it first.
At this time, the Slite bot cannot answer in private channels.

From Chrome

Setup

The extension can be downloaded from the  Chrome Web Store

How to use it

You can access ask without switching context in 2 ways:
    .1Open AskX as side panel through cmd/ctrl + shift + K
.2Or get it in every new tab

Build your own, with our API and Zapier connectors

Finally, you can use the API (and Zapier) to do many things, including indexing a custom source for AskX, but also building your own little AskX interface. The /ask  endpoint  lets you ask a question with the ability to precise which documents to ask on.

AskX API is the same as Slite API.
