Protected Editing is a feature that prevents accidental edits to important documents while still allowing authorized users to make changes when necessary.
How to enable Protected Editing
To enable Protected Editing:
Open a doc and click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.
Toggle on Protected Editing.
Enabling Protected Editing on a doc.
Protect Editing can only be enabled by channel admins.
Enabling Protected Editing on a parent doc will automatically enable Protected Editing on all sub-docs.
To remove Protected Editing from a sub-doc, you will need to remove Protected Editing from the parent doc.
Interacting with a protected doc
When a doc is protected, you will see:
A PROTECTED label at the top of the doc.
A blue banner at the bottom of the doc.
Viewing a protected doc.
If you have Writer permissions and need to make changes, click the Edit button in the blue banner.
If you don't have Writer permissions, that won't change anything for you.
