Sharing

Company knowledge is meant to be shared. But we also know that knowledge bases can contain sensitive information that you would not want to expose to a wider audience. To cater to both ends of the spectrum we offer a lot of flexibility in how you are able to share your content with others.

The following section takes you through the different options available.

How can I make my doc accessible via a link, without making it visible to search engines?

For each doc you share  publicly , you will have the option to toggle on or off the search engine indexation.

How do I index my docs with Google?

For each doc you share  publicly , you will have the option to toggle on or off the search engine indexation.

Please note, if you enable search engine indexation you will still be able to see a no-index tag in the source code of your doc. This is because we present a different, more optimized version, of your doc to search engines.

Can you password-protect a doc?

No, at the moment we do not offer password protection for public docs. We instead default to guest invitations via email address for added security. But if it's a feature you'd like to see us add, please tell us via  support@slite.com .

How do I invite a free guest?

You can invite  guests  to a channel or a doc by using the Share modal. You can invite up to 5 free guests per paying member.

Why did the whole channel share but not just the one doc I'm trying to link toward?

If the entire channel and each of the subdocs are shared publicly, they will all load together with a sidebar visible. If you add an unshared doc between the channel level and the nested doc, the docs below the private doc won't appear in the public channel list.
